MAVA Debuts CXO Roundtables at

CAPITAL CONNECTION 2008

Interactive, Peer Group Discussions Foster Development of
Private Growth Company Ecosystem

McLean, VAMay 8, 2008 — The Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) today introduced a series of CXO Roundtable luncheons, a new feature at the organization’s Capital ConnectionSM 2008 venture fair. The invitation-only roundtables – open exclusively to Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers and Chief Marketing Officers respectively – will enable executives at early, expanding and later-stage growth companies to share their experiences and address issues of importance to their roles in building their company.

“This year’s Capital Connection is offering attendees more targeted programming, specifically designed for executives who are immersed in the day-to-day operations of their business,” said Julia Spicer, executive director of MAVA. “By offering these CXO roundtables, we are able to bring these individuals together for peer-to-peer discussions and best-practice sharing, which are integral to leaders building high-growth enterprises.”

The CXO Roundtable luncheons will kick off Capital Connection 2008 on May 27.  There will be three separate discussions led by some of the top professionals in those roles and across a variety of business sectors.  Roundtable leaders include:

CEO Roundtable

  • Duke Chung, president and CEO of Parature
  • Siki Giunta, president and CEO of Managed Objects
  • Hooman Radfar, CEO and co-founder of Clearspring
  • David Steinberg, CEO of SwapDrive

CFO Roundtable

  • John M. Green, CFO of comScore Inc.
  • Peter Repetti, CFO of Zenoss Inc.
  • Harry D’Andrea, administrative general partner of Valhalla Partners
  • Chuck Cullen, CFO and general partner of Grotech Ventures

CMO Roundtable

  • Michele Perry, CMO of Sourcefire Inc.
  • John Shea, CMO of Rivermine Inc.
  • William Wagner, CMO of Vocus Inc.
  • Brian Nejmeh, president of INSTEP

Capital Connection 2008 also will feature a number of prominent speakers during keynote sessions and panel discussions, as well as presentations from approximately 50 selected private growth companies.  Included in this line-up, and new this year, will be the presentation of nearly 20 of some of the most successful privately-funded later stage companies who will share their company success story.  In addition, more than 30 companies seeking early and expansion-stage financings have been competitively selected to pitch their company. Capital Connection 2008 is broadening its scope to include later stage companies in order to better reflect the wider interests of area investors.

MAVA has been hosting the annual Capital Connection venture fairs for more than two decades, attracting some of the best companies and most active investors from across the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Some of the region’s most prominent success stories – including Advertising.com, Blackboard, UUNet, Sourcefire and Vocus – have presented at previous fairs.
